Can I Transfer Gold I Already Own into Swiss Storage?
Yes. Aurum Helvetica can review a request to transfer gold or silver you already own into storage in Switzerland. You do not have to assume that changing storage means selling your metal and buying it again. Acceptance, documentation, transport and costs must be agreed before anything moves.
Start with the metal and its current location
The first conversation should establish what you own, where it is held and what you want to change. A collection of coins held at home requires different arrangements from numbered bars already held by another professional custodian. Tell us the country and type of current storage at enquiry stage; do not post your residential address, collection details or security arrangements in public comments.
Prepare an inventory and ownership records
List the metal, product, mint or refiner, quantity, gross weight and fineness. Include bar numbers where applicable. Keep purchase invoices and existing custody statements available. For inherited holdings or incomplete records, explain the situation before arranging transport so that the documentation requirements can be assessed.
AH’s storage agreement requires the customer to warrant ownership. Its deposit provisions call for a description of the items and, where appropriate, a bar list. The agreement does not promise automatic authentication of externally sourced metal: items are held on a “said to contain” basis unless testing is specifically requested. Ask whether checks or an assay are needed, who arranges them and what they cost.
Agree custody and transport before dispatch
Complete the account-opening and storage documentation, obtain acceptance of the proposed items, and agree the receiving location. Ask for a written breakdown of collection, transport, transit insurance, handling, any testing and ongoing custody charges. A vault storage policy should not be assumed to cover the journey to the vault.
The agreement requires deposit notice at least five days before the delivery date. Transport availability, the current custodian’s release procedure and any cross-border requirements can add time. Do not ship metal to an office address or arrive at a vault without confirmed instructions.
Confirm what happens at receipt
Ask how the receiving inventory will be reconciled with your list and when you will receive written confirmation. Under the agreement, AH’s custody responsibility begins on delivery and issuance of a receipt. Any transit cover and the point at which responsibility changes should therefore be explicit.
The agreement provides for customer ownership and physical segregation from other holdings. It also provides deposit and withdrawal confirmations, monthly holdings statements and an annual third-party audit statement. Keep the agreement, inventory, receipts and subsequent statements together.
A practical example
Suppose you own 20 one-ounce gold coins with purchase records and want professional Swiss storage. The useful first request is: “Can you accept these coins, what documents do you need, and what is the total cost to move and store them?” It is not simply: “What is your storage percentage?” This is an illustrative enquiry, not a client case or a transport quotation.
Questions to settle before you move anything
Are these exact products accepted, and are any checks required?
Who is responsible for the metal at each stage, including transit?
What are the one-time charges and the ongoing storage charges?
What receipt and inventory confirmation will I receive?
How would I later sell, withdraw or transfer the holdings?
For a first assessment, contact AH with a general product list, current country of storage and preferred timing. Ask for a secure route before sharing identification or sensitive ownership documents.
