How Do I Sell or Withdraw Gold Held in Swiss Storage?
Selling stored gold and withdrawing it are different instructions. A sale converts an agreed quantity into money at an accepted quotation. A withdrawal releases physical metal to you or an authorised person. Contact Aurum Helvetica first, identify the holdings and agree the process before making delivery plans or relying on a settlement date.
If you want to sell
Start by identifying the exact products and quantities you wish to sell. Ask for a current quotation, its validity period, any checks or deductions, the settlement currency and payment arrangements. Asking for a price is not the same as accepting a trade. Obtain confirmation of when your instruction becomes binding.
The amount realised depends on the executable quotation and applicable costs. It is not guaranteed to match a displayed spot price or your original purchase price. Do not assume same-day payment: agree the timetable for your particular transaction before committing the proceeds elsewhere.
If you want the physical metal back
AH’s General Storage Agreement requires a written withdrawal notice at least five days before the proposed withdrawal date. The notice should identify the items and, where relevant, bar numbers, brand, quantity, gross weight and fineness. It should also give the proposed date and details of the person authorised to receive the metal.
Under the agreement, AH contacts the customer or authorised person to confirm instructions and schedule the appointment. Release is documented by a receipt. This is an arranged process subject to credentials and vault procedures; ownership does not mean unrestricted walk-in access to a vault.
Collection, delivery or onward transfer
Tell us whether you want to collect, arrange delivery or transfer the holdings to another custodian. Ask which options are available for the location and products involved. Obtain written confirmation of transport, insurance, handling charges and the point where responsibility changes. Cross-border movements may need additional documents and time.
Do not treat the five-day notice provision as a guaranteed end-to-end delivery service. The agreed withdrawal date, vault arrangements, transport availability and any required checks all matter. Confirm the final arrangements before booking travel or making commitments to another party.
Can I withdraw only part of my holdings?
The agreement permits notice to withdraw any or all stored items. Your request must identify the actual items to release. A bar cannot simply be divided into an arbitrary cash amount: discuss whole products and quantities. If you need a particular sum of money instead, ask about a sale quotation rather than assuming a physical withdrawal will achieve that amount.
Check the fees and records
Ask AH to confirm any outstanding storage charges and applicable release, delivery or transfer costs. The agreement contains provisions concerning unpaid obligations, so clarify amounts due before the planned release. Following a deposit or withdrawal, it provides for confirmation and a statement of the items remaining in storage.
Before instructing: confirm the inventory, ownership details and intended outcome.
Before accepting: confirm the quotation or release arrangements, charges and timing.
After completion: retain the trade confirmation or delivery receipt and updated holdings statement.
A useful first message
“I hold [product and quantity] with AH. I would like to [sell, collect or request delivery of] [specified items] around [date]. Please confirm the available process, documents, charges and timing before I proceed.” Use your agreed private communication channel; do not share account identifiers or collection arrangements in public comments.
